Happy February! And a big Congratulations! to
Chapter C member (and Assistant Chapter Director) Sam Spencer for appearing on the cover of the January 2008 issue of Touring
News! Nice picture, Sam.
Things have been a little slow on the Michigan GWTA homefront recently. However, we’re kicking off the year with our Winter Weekend on Feb. 1-3, and we are going to have
a great time. There will be bowling and dancing and eating and euchre playing and games.
The attendees will be choosing a new logo design for this year’s state rally, and a new Michigan Family of the
Year will be announced. We can’t think of a better way to escape from the
Michigan
winter blahs than reuniting with our GWTA family for a weekend of fun.
Depending on the weather, along about March or April the bikes will start peeking out from under
their blankets and seeing if the time is right to reappear. It’s also time
for us riders to start thinking about some yearly maintenance on the bikes and time for the chapters to be scheduling some
spring riding tune-ups for their members. A layoff of just a few weeks can really
affect a person’s riding skills.
It’s not too early to make reservations for the Region F Rally in May. A good time will be had there too, and it will be a great way to get in some early out-of-state traveling. Let’s see how many Michigan GWTA members we can fit into an Indiana KOA. Also, don’t forget about the Michigan State Rally and Gold Rush XXI. We hope to see as many Michigan GWTA members as possible at all of these events.
We have been told that the bike raffle tickets for
2008 will be coming soon. Our goal, as always, is to sell more tickets than we
did the previous year, so we have to put more effort into trying to sell the tickets.
Remember, this is the principal fundraiser for National GWTA and the more tickets we sell, the less money that has
to be made up some other way.
